Who We Are: Great Plains Media Lawrence features three stations in the Lawrence/Topeka/Kansas City area. Our stations include 105.9 KISS FM (KKSW), 92.9 The Bull (KMXN), and 101.7 FM. 1320AM (KLWN). If you want to learn everything about working on the radio, now is your chance! Apply for an internship with Great Plains Media Lawrence, and you will learn about running radio stations, including the following:

• What goes into behind-the-scenes production and daily operations

• Brainstorming and writing creative pieces

• Crafting social media content and structuring social marketing strategies

• Board Operations • Audio and recording production

• Assist in planning, organizing & executing of promotional events and digital campaigns

• Execute proper technical and physical set-up and breakdown of remote broadcasts and station events; ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues on the spot

• Represent stations at events in an upbeat, outgoing, and friendly manner

• Data entry of promotional events and contesting • Create e-blasts, social media posts & website posts; review promotional information and graphics

• Inventory and maintenance of prize closet, calendars, and events for current and upcoming promotions

• Assist the Promotions and Marketing Department with projects as needed in the office Every weekday, interns might sit in the studio during the radio shows, shadow in audio production and show operations, and learn what it takes to be an on-air talent.

Interns who want to get into radio as a career and who are majoring in communications, journalism, broadcast or marketing have priority, but it is not necessary. We’re looking for hard-working, creative problem solvers who are willing to pay attention to detail.
